When Going Solo doesn’t mean you are alone
Throw in your toothbrush, and lets GO! Can you pack your bags in the last minute? Can you be ready to go in less than 24 hours… Or perhaps you are a person that takes a month to pack? Many of us plan a whole year in advance… Either way a retreat may be right for you! Do you have a list of retreats and bucket list journeys for each year… retreat travel no longer means you have to be alone at your destination – and that means you no longer have to wait to coordinate with friends or family!
Why do we travel on retreats? Simply to change our energy, because you can be certain that your energy will change by the dynamics of being in a totally different location in space and time. It can be a wonderous way to heal any stuck situation and get a new perspective. And of course, for personal growth and transformation. Travel has never been this rewarding and full of new experiences and delight!
Retreat travel has enabled a lot of people to travel who might not have gone anywhere if they were totally alone. Whatever your travel style, all the dynamics change if you decide to travel solo. If you are joining a retreat, you will most likely have someone organizing for you and doing all the preparation work up-front for the experience. Step by step instructions for packing and acquiring Visas online are also now part of retreat offerings. Including pickup from the moment you arrive to the airport in a distant land. This makes solo traveling to a retreat a bit of a breeze. Even though you are still most likely responsible for your tickets and organizing your household while away. But when you travel totally solo on a whim – you won’t have time for any of that, and that has its challenges; most are not up for that. But if you go on a retreat everything is already set up in advance so you can make a last minute decision to join – well as long as there is place left as the best retreats are small groups with experienced leaders.
A retreat will still be full of surprises for you, even though your host should know the place you are going well, the advantage is someone will have your back, and you will feel like you are being given more opportunities to use your time for your own development because you feel safe to do so, and not have to worry about having things arranged for yourself. A experienced retreat leader will create a safe container for you to be free to develop in a totally unjudgmental environment where language and other hindrances are not an issue. You can choose to mingle or to be more on your own – there are usually great options for free time and allot of options of activities. Also, a retreat may be entirely cultural, similar to a tour, but more often there are special trainings or visits to local healers and other growth and learning experiences included.
Maybe you have heard of sacred places? People are traveling to see sacred places more because these areas have a special earth magnetism and are considered “hallowed ground where you are likely to step out of your everyday consciousness and experience a union between the mundane and spiritual worlds.” Maya White – Astrologer.
