Self-discovery & Personal Development

Almost everyone has had an Eat, Pray, Love experience. It happens when you have had a wake-up call – an event which pushes you into your own personal development: like an illness, a painful break up, an accident, you see a close friend’s true colors, or you’ve been caught off guard in your career when you thought you were irreplaceable. Whatever and whenever it hits you, it’s a time we need to slow down – sit down and reevaluate our lives and revise in what we have time left. Such an event is the foreboding cry from your own soul that you need to align and start on the self-discovery path. You can either say NO and ignore it (but it won’t just let you off the hook like some idea) or you can wholeheartedly accept what it is. The consequences of decisions at this point are profound – so best to take a hard look at where you are.

When you can take time for yourself you can define what do you care about… really? Are you going to keep doing the same things, or what can you do differently from that point forward. If you don’t decide to play the victim (or even if you did – hopefully, it was short lived and you woke yourself up) and then reached for your inner strength… but that’s when you usually discover that you are not the person you used to be! Hopefully, you will become aware of what you have given up along the way! Maybe you are done with that?

You’ve heard about doing the work – about self-love, but what is that actually? It’s when you have gotten far enough to see that you need to take action, and what is that action is going to be is going to be for you and your own personal development. It’s when you decide to re-create yourself to be the person that you want to love, the person whose life you want to have, and decide who you want to BE NOW! Because you will never be that 25 year old again (and you really don’t want to be either), and now you are probably over 40 (although the timeline to reach this point is happening faster to some of us) and you want to just be you in all your glory of freedom, and experience and not dramatize everything so much. You want JOY in your life, and peace – even if that may mean changing your whole life situation.

Self-discovery is the foundation of personal development, also called self growth. What are your beliefs, habits and actions (especially the subconscious ones), and define where did they come from. Do those thoughts really belong to you? Or did some of those just hijack you along the way? Evaluating how we talk to ourselves – regulating our inner dialogue is one of the most important steps in finding love for yourself. How can you love someone who you constantly criticize or demean. That must transform into a light, loving and nurturing voice – only we can give that to ourselves from the voice inside.

When you start your self-discovery journey it’s a commitment to growth no matter what gets left behind. Either you will choose a fixed mind set – to stay with the way things are until the universe uproots it and brings on a total collapse, OR you take the reins, and adapt and adopt a growth mindset.

You will always get signs before an ending, a conclusion, when the time to change has ripened… but hindsight is 20-20 vision, because we don’t want to see that something is over – so we procrastinate until just it happens to us as we go along our way thinking that everything will remain the same  …even we procrastinate about sharing our gifts or being creative with every kind of excuse. So, to embark on a self-discovery journey you need to build courage – the courage to bring your hidden treasures to the surface. And that can be anything – even how you hold yourself.

What do you know about yourself? Have you ever done an astrology reading or an astrocartography map to see why you have been drawn towards or stuck to certain places in your life? Or to certain people? What was the nature of your relationships and attachments? This is profound information which may give insight into yourself.

Looking at your ancestral heritage can deepen your understanding of who you are. Furthering that with insight into your past lives may allow a profound connection not only to who you are now, but into the timeless and the divine-ness of your soul.

The whole self-discovery journey is a process of awareness.  When you start to be more aware you will notice the messages, even when they arrive as subtle cues from nature, and you will see something you have never seen before!

One of the best ways to find yourself and embark on your self-discovery journey is to take a trip to a place you have never been. When you are out of your comfort zone and out of the usual routine you are forced to see how you deal with situations and what you would like to really do with your lifetime. You inevitably will learn allot about yourself when you start traveling. Today many retreats are focused on personal development and transformation, and this leads you into becoming your authentic self, and creating the life you adore.

Once you feel that you are in alignment with your life and the universe, you will start a pattern of synchronicity and the flow of your life will take a different flavor and it will feel relaxed and the way it needs to be.
